WMP issues with certain MP3 files

Hello,
I am trying to use WMP 11 to play some MP3 files. It works with my of my MP3 files, but simply refuses to play others. The MP3 files work fine in other players such as iTunes. (Yes, I am sure they are MP3 files and not AAC files.)
I get an error message of "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player."
For example, one file that doesn't play is this 226 kbps LAME 3.90-encoded VBR MP3. The settings seem pretty normal. The file has standard ID3 tags and no artwork. I also had some issues with some 320kbps MP3s. Other files play just fine, including this broken MP3 file that iTunes, iPod, and WMP think is 31 minutes long (but is really 4m44s).
Any ideas?

I had a similar problem and saw that WMP 11 had somehow corrupted some of the comments in the tags. I used a third-party app to blank out all my comments and the songs then played fine.
